About
The Carpentries is a non-profit organization supporting a large international community of professionals teaching foundational coding and data science skills to researchers worldwide. There is an increase of Dutch research organizations that use The Carpentries membership and its pedagogical framework as a building block in setting up training in digital skills.
Participants of this event will learn about The Carpentries, see examples of it being used to organize and deliver training and connect to the growing Dutch Carpentries community.
Target audience
The event is aimed at (research) managers, training coordinators, graduate school coordinators and others interested in becoming members of The Carpentries or learning how to implement this framework at their own institution.
Event format
This in-person event consists of talks from guest speakers and hands-on sessions. Talks will be accessible live via zoom, and there will be an opportunity to ask speakers questions via chat. The hands-on part will be in-person only.

Angelique Trusler
Angelique, PhD (Educational Psychology), is the African Capacity Development Manager at The Carpentries and an Extraordinary Researcher at Optentia Research Focus Area, North-West University, Vaal Triangle Campus, South Africa. Angelique leads the community engagement efforts to develop and support The Carpentries community in Africa, focusing on the Southern, Eastern, and Western regions, creating pathways for participation and increased communication.

Talisha Sutton-Kennedy
Talisha is the Operations Manager at The Carpentries. Talisha primarily supports business and financial administration, as well as supporting the development and administration of the workshops, instructor training and memberships programs.
