Fellowship project title: Research software in the museum – fusion and visualisation of multiple 3D imaging modalities to investigate the interior and exterior cultural heritage objects
The goal: To raise awareness of the potential value of research software within the museum context in general. In this project we moreover further develop a plugin and user interface for an interactive visualisation of different 3D imaging techniques in the open source 3D visualisation software Blender.
The why: Technical imaging is becoming increasingly important in the investigation of art objects, but could be more widely used and implemented. My project focusses on 3D cultural heritage objects, such as statues, musical instruments and textile objects. During the eScience center fellowship, I aim to work on the software sustainability, carry out tests with museum professionals and promote the use of the software we developed, as well as research software in general.
