Fellowship project title: Lowering the barrier to creating workflows 

The goal: Automated workflow frameworks are used only in a small subset of the research and research software engineering community. We see an opportunity for more research groups to use automated workflows. We aim to bring the available expertise on workflows to the research community by organizing workshops and other community activities, and providing guidance and tools to lower the barrier to start using them. 

The why: Using automated workflows will improve the research output of researchers by: being more easily reproducible, being more maintainable and having easier access to shared storage and compute resources.
