Congratulations to the 2023 eScience Center – Lorentz Competition winners
19 Jul 2023 - 3 min
Each year, the eScience Center and the Lorentz Center join forces to organize a competition that brings together researchers and experts from the academic community and the public/private sector. The eScience Center – Lorentz Center competition encourages applicants with an innovative research problem to apply for the opportunity to organize a workshop at the Lorentz Center in Leiden. This year’s theme was ‘Computational Mathematics for Real-World Applications’.
We are thrilled to announce the winners:
A Time Warp in Digital Chemical Discoveries
&
Modeling the Formation of Respiratory Aerosols
The Lorentz Center will support this year’s winners in organizing a five-day workshop for up to 25 people with input from eScience Center research software engineers. The workshop for ‘A Time Warp in Digital Chemical Discoveries’ will be held 2-6 September 2024, and the ‘Modeling the formation of respiratory aerosols’ workshop will be held 23-27 September 2024. Both workshops will be held at the at the Lorentz Center@Snellius venue in Leiden.
Congratulations to this year’s winners:
A Time Warp in Digital Chemical Discoveries
Titus van Erp, Norwegian University of Science and Technology
Roberto Covino, Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies
Rosa Bulo, Software for Chemistry & Materials
Peter Bolhuis, University of Amsterdam
Modeling the Formation of Respiratory Aerosols
Chantal Darquenne, University of California, San Diego
Wilbue de Kruijf, Thaerapy BV
Anna-Carin Olin, University of Gothenburg
Stefen Hickel, TU Delft
Stravos Kassinos, University of Cyprus
The Lorentz Center and the Netherlands eScience Center thank all applicants who took the time to submit their proposal. The level of competition was very high this year and we were impressed with all submissions.
