December roundup – where has the eScience Center been this month?

The eScience Center has been actively engaging with the scientific community through various events and conferences, showcasing the impact we make through the application of research software. Check out what we’ve been up to this month!

Another day, another symposium!

Early December, we were at the Annual Symposium of the Netherlands Reproducibility Network (NLRN) at UMC Groningen presenting a poster about the Fellowship Programme! There was a wonderful keynote by Tracy Weissgerber on reproducibility in biomedical research as well as a talk by eScience Center partner Pim Huijnen and his colleague Pieter Huistra on reproducibility in history research.

We also connected with former eScience Center Fellows, Daniela Gawehns and Meron Vermaas. It was a great opportunity to network and speak with people about the future of reproducibility.

Getting Git savvy with Wageningen University

Earlier this month, we hosted two hands-on workshops on collaborative version control with Git and GitLab for Wageningen University. One was for the Wageningen Economic Research Department, the other was open to all students and employees. From mastering commits to merging like pros, participants dived into the world of version control to enhance their teamwork and workflows!

ODISSEI conference 2024

Several RSEs from the eScience Center joined over 400 participants at the ODISSEI conference in Utrecht—a hub for innovation in computational social sciences. The event was a great opportunity to connect with researchers, share ideas and dive into the latest advancements in open data infrastructure and social science research.

Smarter, better, faster computing

Our GPU Programming Workshop wrapped up successfully! This workshop empowers participants to harness GPU power for faster, smarter computing. Thanks to all the participants and instructors for a wonderful two days!
