3D Surface Reconstruction
Thijs obtained his PhD degree in computational geometry at Utrecht University on the subject of urban 3D surface reconstruction. This was followed by a post-doctoral position at Inria Sophia Antipolis on cultural heritage 3D surface reconstruction.
After working on the CGAL open source software library for Geometry Factory, he joined Cyclomedia Technology to implement methods for data analysis on panoramic images and 3D point clouds. This included subjects like 3D reconstruction, texturing, and automating inventory annotation.
At the eScience Center, Thijs focuses on implementing a software library for geo-information visualization and map-drawing. To make the methods more easily accessible, this library will also be exposed through a website.
