Over the past few decades, digitalization has fundamentally changed the options for conducting academic research.
A rapidly growing proportion of today’s data collection methods, data management and data analyses is driven by software, ranging from smart algorithms and tools to complex digital infrastructures and frameworks. Research was once enabled chiefly by material technologies such as chronometers and microscopes. Today, software is the indispensable research instrument.
Software has reached such a degree of complexity and sophistication that availability of high-level engineering expertise is crucial.
In this strategy report we outline our ambitions for the next five years. We would like to thank our colleagues, stakeholders and partners who contributed to our exciting and revitalised direction.
