Research Software Engineer

Dr. Ji Qi

Ji received a PhD in Systems Innovation from the University of Tokyo in Japan. During his PhD, he investigated novel approaches to visually understanding dynamic network evolution, particularly community structure evolution. In 2016, he joined Eindhoven University of Technology’s Mathematics and Computer Science Department, where he worked on visualization research connected to software engineering, including complex system understanding and online debugging. In 2019, he moved to the University of Amsterdam’s Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics, where he focused on meteorological and bioecological data visualization.

Ji has developed various visualization software packages for a wide range of applications, including network analysis, software engineering, and meteorology. He is also passionate about immersive data visualization, scientific visualization, and the application of information visualization to explainable artificial intelligence.

Ji started working as a Research Software Engineer at the Netherlands eScience Center in February 2022.
