Research Software Engineer
Dr. Olga Lyashevska
Olga obtained her PhD in Ecology from Queen’s University Belfast, UK in 2011. During her studies she developed a unified approach to quantify biodiversity metrics using simulated biological communities with realistic taxonomic composition. In 2012 she joined Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (Texel, The Netherlands) as a postdoc in Statistical Ecology where she developed statistical spatio-temporal models for mapping species abundance by a spatial zero-inflated poisson model. From 2015 to 2022 Olga worked as a postdoc and research fellow in Statistics and Machine Learning at Atlantic Technological University. At present she still works as a part-time lecturer and a PhD supervisor. Furthermore, a passion for continuous learning and development motivated Olga to earn a degree in Software Development at National College of Ireland, Dublin, which she successfully completed in 2022.
A keen interest in multidisciplinary research and development of quality impactful software has brought Olga to the eScience Center. She joined the Netherlands eScience Center as a Research Software Engineer at the Software Impact Team in September 2022.
