Drs. Henk-Jan Vink


Henk-Jan is Managing Director of the Unit ICT innovations at TNO. The research in his unit focuses on applied research that enhance competitive strength of industry and the well-being of society. Research areas of the Unit ICT are: Data Science, Future Networks and Services, Monitoring & Control systems, Cyber Security & Robustness and Embedded Systems Innovations. 

Henk-Jan is active in many different ICT related boards and committees, both national and international. On the European level, for example, he is member of the Board of Directors at the Big Data Value Association and board member of the International Data Space Association. Some examples on national level include: board member of ECP.NL (Electronic Commerce Platform) and active within Team Dutch Digital Delta for setting up and implementing the national ICT Knowledge and Innovation Agenda and the resulting knowledge programs: BC3 (Blockchain), COMMIT2DATA (Data) and Future Networks and Services. He was also involved in the initiation of the NWA (Dutch Science Agenda) route Responsible Data and was  member of the steering group for the start impulse funding this route received. Recently he was co-author of the AiNed whitepaper that was an important step towards a national strategy on AI and led to the NL AIC (Dutch AI coalition with more than 400 members) and the growth fund proposal to which he also actively contributed.

Before entering in this position in 2018, he has held several Director and Senior management positions within TNO.
