Research Software Engineer

Jesse Gonzalez

Jesse is a Research Software Engineer with over 17 years of experience turning complex research challenges into production-ready software. He works across health research, life sciences, climate science, digital humanities, and cultural heritage, building scalable data infrastructure, deploying machine learning systems, and creating interactive visualizations of large-scale scientific data.

At the eScience Center, Jesse has delivered platforms for FAIR ML validation in healthcare (FAIVOR), real-time volumetric visualization of terabyte-scale atmospheric data (Ruisdael), GIS dashboards for climate-health research used internationally (Mine-DD), and collaborative annotation tools that sparked international research working groups (COLLaiTE).

His interests include reproducible computing pipelines, responsible AI validation, and creating research platforms that are both powerful and accessible. Jesse combines deep technical skills with design thinking and user research, ensuring that research software is usable and built to outlast the project.

Jesse holds a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and a Computer Science degree from Carlos III University of Madrid.
