Programme and Education Coordinator
Thomas Geydan
Thomas Geydan is the Programme and Education Coordinator. His focus is on building the infrastructure that helps Research Software Engineers gain the professional identity and recognition to thrive. He coordinates the RS-engD programme, bringing experience from university-wide launches at TU Delft and coordination across UvA research institutes.
His five plus years at Wageningen University provided him with a first-hand understanding of what research demands and what researchers need. This period led to a deliberate transition: Thomas realised his impact lay in supporting the people and the systems that make science sustainable.
He professionalised this pivot through iPEC coaching certification and an MBA in Sustainable Leadership, combining scientific credibility with the practical tools to turn complex institutional needs into effective learning programmes.
Fun fact:
He once revived a long-suspended high-school expedition to the Amazon rainforest, and led it himself. It taught him early that great experts don’t just need freedom; they need the right support structure around them.
